Check Out This Major Cabin Transformation in California

Two sisters give us an inside look at their newly remodeled A-frame cabin, Sprocket Hollow, in Lake Arrowhead, California.

Nikita Ramsey and her twin sister, Jade, took on the ultimate dream project in July 2018: updating a three-level, A-frame cabin in scenic Lake Arrowhead, California. The sisters had been tracking listings online for several months to no avail when they stumbled upon this gem.

“I think our real estate agent was shocked when we put an offer on it immediately, after looking at some other properties that were just about ready to go," Nikita explains. "But, we knew when all the work was done here, it would be something really special!”

She notes that the laundry list of elements that would need updating was long. “The decor was very outdated, the paint job was dark and gave the whole home a very dingy feel, and we knew everything from the brown carpet to the old-fashioned kitchen and tile would have to go,” she says. What made it worth it?

“Between the A-frame triangular windows, the three levels, a loft bedroom, and open layout, we could see that although there was a lot of work to do, we could make our dream come true here,” Nikita says.

Now, with an airy paint job, fresh furniture and quirky amenities, the home’s ready to be rented on Airbnb. Boasting three levels with a private deck amongst a beautiful woodland setting, this cabin has all the makings for a total rustic getaway, but with all modern amenities.

Some of the suggested activities? Toast marshmallows on the secluded deck or sip cocktails from the home bar. The most modern amenity? A photoshoot-ready "strike a pose" neon sign–props and phone tripod included!

And even if the weather turns sour, cabin fever is a foreign concept at Sprocket Hollow. There’s endless entertainment indoors between the shuffleboard table, 43-inch Smart TV, karaoke bluetooth microphone, library of board games, vintage comic collection, and wireless speaker and record player. Make sure you book a long weekend!

Nikita and Jade also recommend heading in to Cedar Glen, just eight minutes away, for shakes and a burger at Cedar Glen Malt Shop. “The best in town!” Nikita says.
