Why the Cabin is Our Happy Place

 

Looking for a cabin on and off for almost 10 years brought us to this gem on the New River in Laurel Springs, N.C. Our cabin is only about 1,300 square feet (three bedrooms, two bathrooms), but it has almost that same amount of porch overlooking the river.

The New River is one of the oldest rivers in America and one of the few that flows north. We live about an hour and a half away, so we are able to spend a considerable amount of time at our place – fishing, kayaking and exploring nearby charming little towns. With Christmas trees and cows as our neighbors, this is our happy place.
