Home Plan for a Contemporary Cottage

This design demonstrates a small-cottage look but still has plenty of floor space and bedrooms for your weekend guests. Different functions are divided by the entryway. As you enter, the more private areas are to the left and the more public areas are to the right. These spaces are also differentiated vertically. The public spaces have tall vaulted ceilings with windows offering a grand view, and the private areas have lower ceilings with another level above.

The upper level serves as overflow and can be used as an office, should you choose to do any work at the cottage, or for extra sleeping space. There is outdoor access to a wraparound L-shaped deck with views on at least two sides.

The cottage exterior uses fiber-cement panels to create a clean look that is mostly maintenance free.
