Fun Frog Facts

Frogs provide more than just a background serenade for early-evening get-togethers out on the deck. Frogs also are a great source of fun facts to entertain at those soirees. To wit:

•  Because frogs have eyes and nostrils on the tops of their heads, they can see and breathe while the rest of their body is under water.

•  Adult frogs not only breathe with lungs, but also absorb oxygen through their skin.

•  A group of frogs is called an army, while a group of toads is called a knot.

•  Frogs can only see in black and white.

•  Frogs eat only living prey. Particularly yummy: insects, worms, spiders and occasionally mice or small snakes.

•  A frog’s tongue is attached at the front of its mouth, not the rear, and is covered with a sticky substance, which proves handy for catching insects.

•  Frogs don’t drink – they absorb water through their skin.
