Makes 8 cocktails (about 9 cups)
Total time: 10 minutes + simmering
Ingredients:
- 4 each Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples, chopped
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- Juice from ½ an orange
- 1 ½ tsp. whole allspice
- 1 knob ginger (1-inch), peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 vanilla bean, halved lengthwise, seeds scraped
- ¾ tsp. whole cloves
- 8 cups water
- 6 oz. Fireball whisky
Instructions:
- Place apples, brown sugar, orange juice, allspice, ginger, vanilla bean, and cloves in a pot; add water and heat to a boil over medium-high. Reduce heat to low; simmer cider, covered, 1 hour.
- Mash apples with a potato masher until crushed; simmer, uncovered, 1 hour more.
- Strain cider through a fine-mesh sieve, or cheesecloth, into a pitcher or pot. Stir whisky into cider and serve warm.
