Screen Shot 2016-08-25 at 10.23.40 AM If you go with actual tin, the tiles can be nailed to your ceiling or suspended on a grid. You’ll need tough gloves and electric metal shears – and will probably appreciate scaffolding over a simple ladder for this job, especially for a larger room. Instructional DIY info is available at home improvement stores. One company making real tin tiles is Armstrong. Its Metallaire tiles (shown) come in 12 styles – with six choices of cornice and five metallic colors. Considered a green product, it’s made with 60-percent recycled post-industrial materials. Tin-look tiles, however, are lighter, and in many cases you can simply glue them to an existing ceiling.
