The Perfect Margarita

By Andy Bennett
Published: June 1, 2009
The margarita, that classic summer refresher, has more “perfect” recipes than you’d have the time or the inclination to try (insert joke here). So which one can truly claim the crown? Well, you certainly can’t go wrong taking a cue from the man who made the drink legendary. Here is Jimmy Buffet’s recipe for the perfect margarita, the same one served at his restaurant, Margaritaville.

Makes 1 drink.

What you Need:

  • Crushed ice
  • 2 lime wedges
  • 1 ounce gold tequila
  • ½ ounce white tequila
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce triple sec
  • ½ ounce orange Curacao
  • Salt

Next:

Rim margarita glass with salt.

Combine ingredients in a shaker filled with ice.

Squeeze limes and add to shaker.

Shake vigorously, and pour into a margarita glass.

Enjoy!
