Tin Ceilings

A tin ceiling may just be the crowning touch for your cabin.

Whether your getaway exudes the spirit of the Old West or Art Deco, a tin or tin-look ceiling may just be the crowning touch for your cabin.

If you go with actual tin, the tiles can be nailed to your ceiling or suspended on a grid. You’ll need tough gloves and electric metal shears – and will probably appreciate scaffolding over a simple ladder for this job, especially for a larger room. One company making real tin tiles is Armstrong. Its Metallaire tiles (shown) come in 12 styles – with six choices of cornice and five metallic colors. Considered a green product, it’s made with 60-percent recycled post-industrial materials.

Tin-look tiles, however, are lighter, and in many cases you can simply glue them to an existing ceiling.
