Cuban Sliders
Published: October 6, 2011
The recipe, submitted by Lisa Keys, of Middlebury, Conn., took second place in our 2008 Grilling Contest. The idea for these sliders was inspired by the Cuban sandwiches she and her husband tasted while on vacation in Tampa. She first made them for her Bunco group of about a dozen friends. "My friends really enjoyed the spicy goodness of these little burgers," said Lisa. So did the Cabin Life judges!
INGREDIENTS: 6 ounces ground pork 6 ounces ground beef 1 link Spanish chorizo sausage, casing removed 1/4 cup soft bread crumbs 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper 1/4 cup grated sweet onion 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cumin 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika 12 slices Swiss cheese 1 package small-sized soft buns, split and toasted 2 tablespoons yellow mustard 12 dill pickle slices
DIRECTIONS: 1. Combine meats, bread crumbs, bell pepper, onion, salt, cumin and paprika; shape into 12 small patties to fit size of buns. 2. Grill patties over medium heat on a lightly greased grill rack until thoroughly cooked.Top patties with cheese during last few minutes of grilling time, so cheese can melt. 3.
